Satellite Atlas is made by Superstellar LLC (“we,” “us”). This page explains, in plain language, what information the app collects, why, and what control you have over it. If you have questions this page doesn’t answer, write to hello@satelliteatlas.app.

The short version

  • You sign in with Sign in with Apple only — there is no other account system, no password, and no third-party login.
  • We never read your device’s location. The places you discover are chosen by our server, not by where you physically are — Satellite Atlas has no GPS or location permission at all.
  • We use no advertising or analytics SDKs of any kind — no Google Analytics, no Meta/Facebook SDK, no ad networks, nothing that tracks you across apps.
  • We never sell your data, to anyone, ever.
  • You can delete your account and its personal data at any time, from inside the app.

Information we collect

Account information

When you sign in, Apple gives us a stable, anonymous identifier for your account — not your Apple ID or password. If you choose to share an email through Sign in with Apple, we may receive Apple’s private relay address for that email rather than your real one; we use it only to reach you about your account (for example, a security notice). You also choose a display handle (username) that other players see.

Age information

We ask for an age range so the app can apply age-appropriate limits: trading and crew (social) features are only available at 13 and older, and any future purchase is blocked entirely for accounts we haven’t verified as adult. We don’t ask for — or want — your exact birthdate.

Gameplay information

We store the places you’ve discovered, the cards in your collection, your trade history, and the crew connections you form with other players. This is the core of the game and is how your collection and certificates of first discovery persist across devices.

Phone number (only if used)

The app can optionally verify a phone number as an extra anti-fraud step. If you’re ever asked for one, we store it only to prevent abuse (fake or duplicate accounts) — verification codes are cryptographically hashed, never stored in plain text, and the number is deleted if you delete your account.

What we don’t collect

  • No GPS or precise location — Satellite Atlas has no location permission on iOS.
  • No photos, camera, or contacts access.
  • No user-uploaded profile pictures — every player’s in-game avatar is one of a fixed set of illustrated icons, so we never handle a photo of you or anyone else.
  • No advertising identifiers, no third-party trackers.

How we use information

Strictly to run the game: authenticate you, keep your collection and certificates persistent and correct, apply age-appropriate feature limits, prevent cheating and abuse, and respond when you contact us. We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not build behavioral profiles for marketing.

Who we share information with

We don’t sell personal information, and we don’t share it with advertisers or data brokers. A small number of infrastructure providers process data on our behalf, strictly to run the service:

  • Apple — to authenticate your Sign in with Apple session.
  • Vercel— hosts the app’s backend.
  • Neon— hosts the app’s database.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of players or the integrity of the game (for example, investigating fraud or abuse).

Children’s privacy

Satellite Atlas is built with data minimization for younger players as a first principle: we read no location data from any device, we run no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs, and every in-game avatar is a fixed illustrated icon rather than a user photo. Trading and crew (social) features require an age-verified account of 13 or older; players who haven’t reached that bar simply don’t see those features. Any future purchase is age-gated and never offered to an account we haven’t verified as adult. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information beyond what’s described here, contact us at hello@satelliteatlas.app and we’ll act on it promptly.

How long we keep information, and deletion

You can delete your account at any time from Settings in the app. When you do, we immediately and permanently remove your directly identifying information — your phone number (if any), Apple relay email, and device signals used for anti-fraud. Records of which map cells were discovered are retained in a de-identified form, disconnected from your account: this preserves the game’s shared, permanent “first discovery” ledger for every other player, without keeping anything that identifies you.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You can delete your account and its personal data directly in the app at any time; for anything else, write to hello@satelliteatlas.app and we’ll respond promptly.

Security

All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). There is no password to leak — sign-in is handled entirely by Apple. Verification codes, where used, are stored as cryptographic hashes, never in plain text.

Changes to this policy

If we make a material change to this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
